About This Experience
The MSPE® Institute invites you to attend our 2nd Annual Virtual Meditation Retreat on July 24 from 10am - 3:30pm EDT.
This virtual retreat (hosted via Zoom) is an opportunity to experience a fun and versatile mix of traditional and novel mindfulness practices, rooted in our decades of applied sport and performance work. Whether you're new to mindfulness or an experienced meditator, there is something in this retreat for you. Please join us for this opportunity to slow down, unplug, and take care of yourself.
As an MSPE Institute offering, many of the practices in this retreat offer unique experiences that move beyond the traditional cushion, emphasizing a bridge from formal mindfulness practice to actually responding mindfully to the demands of daily life. The format will include:
- Sedentary practice and gentle mindful movement
- A mix of brief and longer (up to 30 minutes) formal meditations
- A variety of informal practices including mindful eating, self-expression, and reflection
- A range of attentional anchors and styles, from single-pointed focus to open monitoring
- Practices to strengthen key mechanisms of mindfulness, such as attention and emotion regulation
You are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and to prepare your space with any personal items that can support your meditation practice. You will also need to have a snack or light meal available for a mindful lunch activity. And to better create the feeling of a retreat, we ask that all participants plan their day such that they will not be disturbed (e.g., no calls, texts, emails, or social media).
Please note, full refunds are available up to 24 hours prior to the training. If you are registered but unable to attend, please do let us know as soon as you are able.
The retreat will be led by Tim Pineau, Ph.D., CMPC, who has nearly 20 years of experience practicing, teaching, and researching mindfulness and meditation. He is co-author of Mindful Sport Performance Enhancement: Mental Training for Athletes and Coaches, co-host of the Mindful Sport Performance Podcast, and writer of the Zen in the Zone Substack.
